Inhofe Quotes NCPA Scholar on Senate Floor
Cites Legates’ Research to Dispel Notion of Scientific Foundation of Climate Change
July 28, 2003 – Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), speaking on the Senate floor today quoted research by NCPA Adjunct Scholar David Legates, which suggests evidence from the last 1,000 undermines the theory that human activities – specifically, greenhouse gases emitted from the burning of fossil fuels – is responsible for so-called global warming. Citing this research, Senator Inhofe called the hysteria over human-caused global warming, one of the greatest hoaxes of our time.
The NCPA will soon publish a brief analysis authored by Dr. Legates detailing some of the evidence highlighted by Senator Inhofe today. Dr. Legates is an Associate Professor in Climatology and Director of the Center for Climatic Research at the University of Delaware.
In addition, a recent analysis from Dr. Legates on the weakness of climate models as a basis for predicting global warming can be found online: Limitations of Climate Models as Predictors of Climate Change.
