Energy
During the next 20 years, U.S. oil consumption will grow by one-third and electricity demand could increase by more than 45 percent. NCPA Scholars believe that increased energy production and environmental quality are compatible. With appropriate environmental safe-guards the U.S. government should remove barriers to the domestic production and delivery of energy, while at the same time recognizing that America will never completely be energy independent. Thus we should continue to use inexpensive foreign sources of energy where appropriate, unless an overriding national security concern arises.
